Scout is 4 months and treeing real well. He will bark but looses intrest in just a minute and starts looking for another. I know he is young but any tips to have him hold better. We are in a residential area with plenty of squirrels but hesitant to shoot one out. (Fear the little old lady across the street would stroke out)

He will likely grow out of it as he matures. Most dogs of this line will tighten up on tree once they have game shot out to them.
Some of the cur dog folks will tie a young dog at tree (using a leash) and encourage the dog to continue barking treed by "sicking" him or her up the side of the tree.

Steven caught a squirrel yesterday and we turned it out in the neighbors yard. Nearest tree was about 50 yards and Scout nearly caught him before he got there. Held to the tree good untill we got there and we praised him good. Looking forward to shooting one out on him.
