Season is open & looks like there are plenty of places to hunt. Driving around for work, I've been seeing roadkill squirrels. This is the time of year known as the "Fall Shuffle" where young squirrels (especially males) disperse from the territory they were born (natal area) in to move to new locations. www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/29460.html

Met up with some guys that live close to Stewart State Forest. Been having some fun hunts! Always good to introduce new people to squirrel dogs. This is going to be a go-to place to hunt after the gun deer season. Lots of squirrel sign & over 6,000 acres!
The only downside is another $100 license as a non-resident. lol

Will get back out several times between now & season end. Plan to scout some new places. The work of squirrel hunting never ends! haha

We have ground cover of snow but it was almost 50F today. Squirrels weren't moving but we got 1. Laid up big time. No squirrel tracks in the snow at all. Crazy.

Finding some real good places to go with lots of squirrels. Populations are much better than parts of PA in the last few years.
