Well, I made a valiant effort fighting the bugs and heat to harvest some squirrels Saturday. The squirrels weren't moving in the morning Saturday because they fed the night before (our weather switched from 100 to a low in the 50's overnight Friday). I hunted Daisy on my farm with Carson, Rosie and Colter. Made 4 trees in the hour before it got too hot for me (I am recovering from some nasty cold and my energy was sapped). Squirrels won that round... Had a nice visit with Byron Melton from North Carolina for a few hours then went back out in the evening with Ranger and Bella (my real nose-power ). Hunted a spot at one of the local WMA's for about an hour and a half. Made several trees but couldn't see squirrels for the leaves/pine tags. Squirrels won round two... Loaded up and moved to another spot about 1/2 hour before dark and hunted Ranger solo (he's chubby and needs to run). Just as Ranger was beginning to make some trees, a pitbull female came in on him and I had to chuck rocks at her. She looked like she had a litter close (she had bags). Then it got too dark for me to see well so I went home...Squirrels won round three.... THAT'S WHY IT'S HUNTIN' NOT SHOOTIN' Ranger found some mud to cool off in.... Attachments:
