Hi Everyone,
We're taking deposits for this year's upcoming pups. Planning to breed Gray's Buckshot to Gray's Bandit Rose. This breeding has been made before and the offspring are well on their way to making good squirrel dogs. May have another litter out of Gray's Buckshot x Gray's Purty Polly. All 3 of the feist we have are producing squirrel dogs.
These pups will be linebred Gray Feist. Our late female, Gray's Prairie Daisy will factor heavily in their pedigree which is nothing but a positive influence!
Since 2005, we have only averaged 1 litter per year as some years we did not have any. Since we have been doing this so long and there are people in more than 20 states hunting this line, I receive between 15-30 inquiries A MONTH between calls, e-mails, texts & social media. There's a difference between a genuine interest and kicking tires. Jess & I are looking for SERIOUS squirrel hunting homes to place pups in. As such, we have decided to increase deposits to $100 to hold your place on our list. Also, overall cost per pup is now $500. Too many people don't value a well-bred Mountain Feist pup. If someone is more invested in a dog, they are more likely to work it like it deserves. It's a fine balance between not charging enough and asking too much. I am fully aware that our hunting program will catch some flack for this but even at the new price, we are still not covering the costs we invest in hunting, training & caring for these dogs. We often meet people to deliver their pup. Over the years we have given several pups away to youth hunters to get them into hunting.
What someone is buying is not "just a mixed up little dog." They are buying more than 25 years of squirrel hunting experience, generations of accumulated hunting dog knowledge, training advice and over a decade of thoughtful breeding practices. We are now 8 generations+ into this stock of dogs. We test performance in the field. We have driven thousands of miles to breed, get pups for our program and hunt with people all over the country.
If you are interested in hunting with a true family heirloom - a real tradition of fine sporting dogs - reach out to us for more information (graysfeist@gmail.com is a good start). Deposits may be sent to Marc Gray, 376 West Mill Road, Long Valley, NJ 07853. Deposits are non-refundable unless something happens on our end like a breeding not taking. Be aware that we have had multiple people wait 2+ years for a hunting partner out of a particular cross.
Thanks for reading!
