What is a good way to start cherry trees from seed? I read to put them in a ziploc bag of peat, good soil or a damp cloth in the fridge for 10 weeks and then plant them? What is your all's opioion?

Thanks Marc, Some good info. :)we have a Blackheart about 40' tall in our back yard and one that is about 15-20' tall they have some of the best cherrys and i saved about 20 seeds to try and start. We also have two wild cherrys in our yard there about 15-20' also there a little more tart. The birds have done wiped out the blackhearts and now they have moved on to the wild ones. The Blackhearts were a little thin this year for some reason, Most years when we don't get a frost there are 2-3 in a bunch which makes for a little easier picking but this year there was just one cherry per bunch? Need to start triming the little one i guess.

I agree it sounds like some pruning might be in order. What have you been doin' with your cherries? Anything besides feeding the birds?

Some young squaks are hitting the wild cherry's. We eat the blackhearts in cobbler and with milk and sugar. But yeah the birds get the biggest % of them.
