I used to feed exclusively Purina products (Dog Chow for adults) but a few years ago, they increased their price and made the sack smaller. Puppy Chow is still great for pups. What I did was switch to Diamond (another Missouri company). The forumaltion I use is ideal for year-round feeding of these feist dogs. It has a high protein (24%) and high fat (20%) content and is pretty digestable. My dogs have free access to food but are finicky eaters...In other words, they do not gulp down large quantities of food. Rather, they eat a few bites now and again. So, they don't over eat. When it's hot, they eat less. The dogs do very well on it. Hunting, muscles, coat, eyes, etc. are great. It is even high enough in protein and fat that you can feed it to lactating females and pups. How much does the Diamond cost a bag? I feed the Southern States 24/20 and the dog seams to eat it well and she looks good.

It has gone up recently to $23.99 per 50 lbs. Whenever I see it on sale (a few dollars less at Tractor Supply) I buy a bunch.

Man, I love me some Tractor Supply! haha I think I would buy the whole store if I could. I played with the dealer locator thing also and was surprised how many stores in different parts of the state carry my food! Handy in case I have to move with the current budget mess.

Yeah, These are the first we have had in a few years. My 4 year old loves to go out and help with taking care of them. We got 6 White leghorns and 6 Red Comets. So we should get some brown and white eggs.
