Section 1: Purpose The purpose of the conflict of interest policy is to protect this tax-exempt organization’s (Organization) interest when it is contemplating entering into a transaction or arrangement that might benefit the private interest of an officer or director of the Organization or might result in a possible excess benefit transaction. This policy is intended to supplement but not replace any applicable state and federal laws governing conflict of interest applicable to nonprofit and charitable organizations.

4. If a more advantageous transaction or arrangement is not reasonably possible under circumstances not producing a conflict of interest, the governing board or committee shall determine by a majority vote of the disinterested directors whether the transaction or arrangement is in the Organization’s best interest, for its own benefit, and whether it is fair and reasonable. In conformity with the above determination it shall make its decision as to whether to enter into the transaction or arrangement.

Remember - it's not the purpose to start another registry, hold competition hunts or otherwise compete with the MFA/NFBA/NKC/UKC, etc. of the world. This is to promote the dogs, recruit new hunters, do conservation projects to benefit wildlife and study genetics and what not. Feist Dog Foundation is here to support all breed registries, breed associations, hunt clubs and the like. No matter what kind of feist you like, you can support Feist Dog Foundation!
Some ideas for activities include:
-Road Historic Markers commemorating notable feist lines & breeders that have made significant contributions. -Buddy hunt to involve more youth in squirrel hunting with dogs. -Magazine article about the history of feist or a specific type of feist and how much fun it can be to hunt wiht them. -Training seminars or other classes on squirrel dog hunting, care, behavioral problems, etc.
ATFA/MFA/NFBA and others are VERY busy with events, working with the registries and everything. The Feist Dog Foundation can work to ensure prospective feist owners get solid information about the dogs, understand that these are hunting dogs first & foremost and are not for everyone. How do you get into competition hunting? What are the differences in rules between clubs? What inherited diseases exist in these dogs? How long do they live? How do I train a puppy? What are some examples of sound breeding practices? It seems there has been an increase in recent years of feist-type dogs ending up in rescues and animal shelters. How can we address that? Where do people go for reliable information about the different types of feist out there? Those sorts of things.
